BHOPAL - Three people have been arrested and fake currency having face value of Rs.1.15 lakh has been recovered from them, police said here Wednesday.

“The crime branch Tuesday arrested Shahwar Khan alias Sheru, 37, with fake currency notes having face value of Rs.1.15 lakh. On the lead provided by him, two others — Sajid and Gajraj Singh — were arrested from neighbouring Ashta town,” said Superintendent of Police Yogesh Chaudhary.

“The police also recovered a printer and other materials used from the printing press owned by Gajraj Singh,” he added.

“The police are trying to ascertain whether those arrested were linked to some international gang in view of intelligence reports that Pakistan-based ISI was encouraging circulation of fake currency in India,” a police official said on condition of anonymity.
