BHOPAL - A Madhya Pradesh minister’s nephew is among the three accused of raping a tribal girl in the state’s Satna district, police said Tuesday.

“A case has been registered against three people at an SC/ST police station for allegedly raping a minor tribal girl at Pathar village in Satna district,” a police officer said.

“The accused include Bablu Sen and Rupesh Singh, who is the nephew of Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Nagendra Singh. The name of the third accused is not known,” the officer said.

According to a complaint lodged with the police, the victim has stated that she was raped by the three men when she was alone at home May 1. The girl, however, did not lodge the complaint immediately as she said she was threatened of dire consequences by them.

However, when she narrated the incident to her family members, they took her to the police station May 3.

The preliminary medical examination of the girl has been conducted and action against the accused would be taken after the test report comes in, the officer said.
