LUCKNOW - An architecture student died after falling from the fourth floor of a mall here Tuesday, police said. It is yet to be ascertained whether it was a case of suicide or murder.

Shruti Agarwal, who was B.Arch. second-year student at the Babu Banarsi Das (BBD) College here, fell in the Fun Republic Mall in the Gomti Nagar area.

Police have detained Agarwal’s friend - Raj Kumar, 20, who was with her. While he hails from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Agarwal was a native of Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, Raj, who met Agarwal on the internet came to meet her from Indore and both were seen moving around together for the last few days.

“We have initiated a probe into the case. Though Raj Kumar told us that the girl jumped off from the third floor after having some arguments with him, we are still to ascertain any specific reason behind the death,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rajiv Krishna told reporters here.

“We have taken him into custody to question him about the case,” he added.
