NEW DELHI - A city court Tuesday rejected the bail plea of one of the two persons arrested along with a senior home ministry official by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a corruption case April 29.
Special Judge O.P. Saini rejected the bail plea of Lavleen Gupta taking note of the CBI’s opposition on thr ground that the investigations are at initial stages and the bail may provide her an opportunity to tamper with the evidence.
Earlier, counsel for Gupta rgued that a bail be granted as the initial investigations were over.
Lavleen Gupta and her husband R.K. Gupta, director of Anjani Technoplast Limited, were arrested along with R.S. Sharma, a director-level officer in the home ministry, for alleged corruption in the purchase of bulletproof jackets for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), said the CBI.
