SKorea to review security after warship sinking
SEOUL, South Korea — The president of South Korea vowed to review the country’s national security readiness “in a full-fledged manner” following the sinking of a warship that killed 46 sailors.
President Lee Myung-bak did not elaborate on what new actions Seoul would take, but any military posturing is bound to ratchet up tensions with nuclear-armed rival North Korea
Lee said South Korea will take “definitive, stern action” against anyone responsible for the blast. He spoke in a nationally televised meeting Tuesday with military generals
Seoul has not directly blamed North Korea for the warship’s sinking in March, and Pyongyang has denied involvement. But suspicion has focused on the North, given its history of provocations and attacks.
