NAIROBI, KENYA (GaeaTimes.com)- Western Kenya which had already witnessed a heavy landslide causing eight killings along with massive disaster of property is now experiencing heavy rains. As a matter of fact, the rescue teams which have been deployed in Western Kenya is facing serious difficulties to carry on their rescue activities with the rains on their back. The Kenya Red Cross spokesman Titus Mung’ou told the media that besides the eight deaths, there were also other reports of people being heavily injured in the landslide. Reportedly, the number of deaths is speculated to rise as soon as the rescue teams go ahead with their operations which are being delayed for the rains.

Titus Mung’ou told the media that the local villagers of Western Kenya have reported that the landslide has taken a heavy toll over 30 such houses which lay buried in the ground with no hopes of rescue due to heavy rains. Western Kenya have witnessed a heavy digging on the ground by the search party who are looking out for people who might have survived the landslide.

Kenyan Ministers are making arrangements for more advance machines which shall help the rescue team to tackle the aftermath of the landslide in the Marakwet village. The rains had been the major problem for Western Kenya which has witnessed heavy floods as water gushed out from all sources headed towards the village. The weather experts however were of the view that the heavy rains affecting Kenya is owing to the natural shift of the El Nino patterns. Besides Kenya, other prominent areas of Africa like Uganda had also witnessed a similar landslide where several houses were buried under the ground.
