LUCKNOW - A policeman Saturday shot dead two of his relatives over a property dispute in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district, officials said.

Constable Om Prakash, in his late 30s, gunned down his father-in-law and co-brother after an altercation in Harpur village, some 300 km from here.

Police have set up teams to nab Prakash, who escaped after the double murder.

“Preliminary investigations reveal Prakash had a dispute with his father-in-law Munna Yadav who had agreed to give a major share of his property to Prakash’s co-brother Channa Yadav,” police inspector S.D. Bajpai said.

“Prakash had been mounting pressure on his father-in-law to give him a share in the property. After heated arguments with them, Prakash killed them both in a fit of rage,” Bajpai added.
