RAIPUR - Seven tribals were arrested Monday for killing two ‘Nilgai’ (blue bulls) in a Chhattisgarh village, police said.

The arrests were made at Mareli village in Dhamtari district, some 150 km from state capital Raipur.

According to the police, all seven belong to a tribal community, Kamar, and they used poisonous arrows to kill the animals for meat and “not for any commercial purpose”.

Hunting of animals is banned in this forested stretch of the district, police said.
