Mississippi Tornado Kills 10

JACKSON (GaeaTimes.com)- A massive tornado on Saturday reaped the central Mississippi. As per the reports, the estimated 1.6 km tornado had lashed through at least 13 counties and had affected badly at least three counties. 10 people that include three children died on Saturday due to the Mississippi tornado and dozen more have been injured. The Choctaw County and the Yazoo County are some of the worst affected. In Choctaw County five people were reported dead and in Yazoo County four people reportedly lost their life due to the tornado. One casualty was reported in Holmes County. The counts of the dead were provided by the spokesman of the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency Greg Flynn.
The Governor Haley Barbour on Saturday declared emergency and said that in Yazoo City there is an “utter obliteration” after the tornado. Buildings have been reduced to mere debris and many business establishments have been literally reduced to rubble. Some reports claim that at least 20 buildings have been badly affected by the storm. Some places had heavy shower after the tornado which led to a worse condition. Power connections have suffered badly. Roads are blocked by huge trees that have been uprooted by the tornado.
The Governor said that rescue and emergency management teams have been sent to the counties to take control of the situation. He added that many are still trapped inside damaged building and rescue operations are being carried out. The Hinds Country Sheriff’s Department has reportedly sent 24 deputies and 100 inmates to speed up the rescue process and clear up debris. The tornado is reportedly moving towards east.
