4 critically hurt in oil rig blast doing better
NEW ORLEANS — Officials say four workers critically injured in an oil rig explosion off the Louisiana coast are doing much better.
Coast Guard Rear Adm. Mary Landry said Friday that two of the workers are now out of the hospital, and a third is to be released within a couple of days. Landry says the fourth worker will remain seven to 10 days.
She says they are all doing well and in good shape.
The Coast Guard suspended its search for 11 workers missing since Tuesday’s explosion. More than 100 other crew members were able to make it off the platform and safely return home.
Oil company crews are trying to clean up the environmental mess created by the Deepwater Horizon, which sank Thursday.
