LUCKNOW - Two people were arrested Thursday in connection with the murder of an office bearer of the ruing Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)’s Brahmin-Dalit goodwill committee in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi district, police said.
H.P. Pandey and Rishi Dubey were arrested in Varanasi for killing Krishna Mohan Pandey Wednesday in Varanasi, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“Efforts are on to nab a third accused in the murder case. As of now, we can only tell that the three killed the BSP leader over a property dispute,” Superintendent of Police (city) Vijay Bhushan told reporters in Varanasi.
“The pistol used in the murder has been recovered from the two,” he added.
Krishna Mohan Pandey, 32, was shot dead by three motorcycle-borne men in the cantonment area of the city.
According to police, Pandey was a treasurer of the party’s ‘Bhaichara Banao Samiti’ (Brahmin-Dalit goodwill committee) in Varanasi district.
