Briton goes to jail over kiss in Dubai

LONDON - A 26-year-old British woman, who was convicted of indecency for kissing a man in Dubai, waived her right to a final appeal and has begun a month-long prison term.
Charlotte Adams gave up the effort to prove her innocence Tuesday and went to the Dubai Central Prison as she believes she will get back home quicker if she serves her sentence, Daily Mail reported Wednesday.
She was allegedly seen passionately kissing Ayman Najafi, a management consultant, in a diner at the Jumeirah Beach Residence.
Adams and Najafi were arrested in November after a 38-year-old woman said she saw them kissing on the lips.
They were both awarded one-month prison sentences last month for breaching public decency laws and lost an appeal last month against their convictions.
“I want to go to jail straight away. I can’t get on with my life at the moment. I’m stuck in this country with no money and I can’t work,” Adams was quoted as saying.
Najafi, however, plans to appeal for a second time.
“It’s unfortunate for Charlotte. She’s not going (to jail) because she’s guilty, she’s going because she has nowhere to live, no income,” he was quoted as saying.
