LUCKNOW - The Uttar Pradesh police Monday arrested two drug peddlers with heroin worth more than Rs.1 crore from the state’s Ambedkar Nagar district.

The two men, in their early 30s, were nabbed from Akbarpur town in Ambedkar Nagar, some 200 km from Lucknow, while they were on their way to hand over the consignment to clients. They operated in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and parts of Uttar Pradesh.

“The two have admitted that they have been in this illegal business for the last five years. They also had some clients in Nepal. They have provided vital inputs that will enable unearthing the illegal trade in parts of Uttar Pradesh,” police Inspector P.L. Yadav told reporters in Ambedkar Nagar.
