NEW DELHI - Four men from affluent families have been arrested for their involvement in over 200 chain snatching incidents in the capital. They even flew to Mumbai for chain snatching, police said Sunday.

Siddhant Verma, 28, Shailender Singh, 28, Sheetal Chawla, 27, and Sagar Jadhav, 23, were Saturday arrested from near the Shakarpur Metro Station in central Delhi.

“They disclosed their involvement in more than 200 incidents of chain snatching in Delhi,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (west Delhi) Sharad Aggarwal said.

With the money they got after selling the chains, they were having a lavish lifestyle, he added.

“Their families are settled in posh residential colonies. The gang was also active in Mumbai. They used to visit Mumbai by air for chain snatching. The men used bikes like Karizma and Pulsar to escape after committing the crime. Sometimes they used cars too,” he added.

The police said they have recovered eight gold chains, two bikes and two cars from them.
