Another road rage turns ugly: Father-son beaten up

NEW DELHI - In yet another case of road rage in the capital, two groups clashed and gunshots were fired after their vehicles collided in Dwarka Saturday, police said.

A Delhi Development Authority signboard contractor identified as Amar was returning home in his car while his workers were in a tractor ahead of him. The tractor hit a car with three occupants in it.

An argument ensued between the two groups which soon turned into a fight, police said.

“Amar made a call to his father who came to the spot carrying a licensed pistol. Seeing Amar being beaten up, his father opened fire at the trio. He fired two rounds. The trio managed to flee,” a senior police officer said.

“We are looking into the matter and after taking statements, we will lodge a case,” the officer added.

Also on Saturday, two businessmen were arrested for beating up an autorickshaw driver and his brother in a case of road rage in the Aman Vihar area of northwest Delhi, police said.

“The incident took place at around 9 p.m. yesterday (Friday). Mahesh and Hari Om, residents of Prem Nagar in Rohini area, had gone to a market in Aman Vihar area for some work. They were parking when an autorickshaw rammed into their car,” a senior police officer said.

“It resulted in an argument between the autorickshaw driver Yogesh and the two businessmen. The duo demanded money for the damage to their car. But when Yogesh expressed his inability to pay up, the duo thrashed him,” the officer added.

“They also beat up Yogesh’s younger brother Raju who had come to the spot,” the officer said.

The victim informed the police following which the duo was traced and arrested.
