NEW DELHI - A university student and a school drop out have been arrested for their involvement in snatching incidents in the capital, police said Friday.

Pawan Kumar, 19, a second year college student, and a teenage boy were arrested while they were trying to dispose off a cellular phone snatched from Sarojini Nagar Market Thursday.

“They used to target people walking alone on the roadside during late evening hours and snatched their cell phones, gold chains and other valuables,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (south Delhi) H.G.S. Dhaliwal said.

“In most of these incidents of snatching, the two used a Yamaha R-I motorcycle, which is comparatively a more high speed bike as compared to other motorcycles. They do not have any previous criminal record and hail from good families,” he added.
