Gang involved in football federation office robbery busted

NEW DELHI - A gang involved in robbing goods worth Rs.5 lakh from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) office here in March was busted, police said Thursday.
The gang struck March 2 at the governing office of AIFF in Dwarka, south west Delhi. The goods were robbed at gunpoint.
The police apprehended two gang members involved in the robbery April 9, after they received confidential information.
Our team received secret information regarding the whereabouts of the robbers. We were able to apprehend two of them on April 9, a police officer said.
Bhupendra Singh (24) and Sanju (22) were picked up from Dwarka. Interrogations further revealed the whereabouts of other gang members, including gang leader Birbal Singh, a known criminal of Etah, a district in Uttar Pradesh.
Sustained interrogation revealed the whereabouts of other gang members, they were posing as armed security guards, the officer added.
Birbal Singh (50) and Ashok Kumar (19) were also arrested. The owner of the security agency Rai Singh (37) and a scrap shop owner Jitendra Singh (24) who bought the stolen LCD TV from the accused were also picked up.
