PANAJI - Fiona Mackeown, the mother of Scarlett Keeling, has cancelled her trip to Goa to attend her daughter’s homicide trial after airports in Britain were closed due to volcanic ash clouding the atmosphere, her lawyer said here Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Fiona’s lawyer Vikram Varma said Fiona had cancelled her trip to Goa to attend her deceased daughter’s trial case hearing April 16.
“She had booked the tickets and had even gone to the airport to board the flight, but since all the flights are cancelled she can’t come to India for the hearing,” Varma said.
Fiona, who championed the cause of justice for her dead daughter, was scheduled to be in Goa to attend the hearing at the Goa Children’s Court, where two beach shack workers Samson D’Souza and Placido Carvalho are being tried for sexually assaulting and leaving her 15-year-old daughter to die at Anjuna beach on Feb 18, 2008.
