Obama honors Polish president at nuclear summit
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama opened the second day of his nuclear summit by asking world leaders to hold a moment of silence to honor the Polish president and members of his delegation killed in a plane crash.
Obama said he was deeply saddened by the loss of President Lech Kaczynski (lekh kah-CHIN’-skee), who died in Saturday’s crash along with his wife and dozens of other Polish political and military leaders. Investigators believe human error caused the plane to crash in western Russia.
Forty-seven countries are represented at the two-day nuclear summit.
