Obama praying for ‘miracle’ in mine search
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says he is praying for a miracle as rescue workers search for four miners missing after a coal mine explosion in West Virginia.
Obama said Friday more needs to be done to ensure mine safety. He has asked federal officials to report to him next week on the cause of Monday’s deadly explosion. Officials have suggested a buildup of methane might have been to blame.
The blast killed at least 25 miners. Toxic gases have hampered attempts to search for the missing miners.
