Kobad Ghandy’s trial to start April 15

NEW DELHI - Top Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy’s trial under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act will start April 15. A city court Friday transfered his case to a sessions judge for further proceedings.

Ghandy will be brought before the court April 15.

The court also agreed to provide copies of CD/DVD and other materials recovered from Ghandy as demanded by the defence counsel.

The 63-year-old was arrested Sep 20 last year and accused of trying to set up a network of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist in Delhi.

Police also booked him for various other offences under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) relating to cheating, forgery and impersonation.

Delhi Police have provided the court CD/DVDs of him purportedly addressing armed Maoist cadres in Nepal.
