JALGAON - Eight people were injured, three of them seriously, when a blast occurred in an electric transformer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) at Bhusawal near here Wednesday, police said.
“The victims were working on some repairs on the transformer when it suddenly burst and oil splashed on them. They have been rushed to hospitals in Bhusawal and Jalgaon,” R.N. Tayde, head of Bhusawal police station, told IANS.
The condition of three victims is serious, he said.
He said so far the MSEB has not made any formal complaint about the incident. It is also not known whether the workers were staff of MSEB or contract labour, Tayde added.
The incident occurred in the MSEB’s 125 KV thermal power unit at Deepnagar, around 10 km from Bhusawal, a major railway junction in north Maharashtra. Jalgaon is around 500 km from Mumbai.
