One passenger killed in Srinagar road accident

SRINAGAR - One person was killed and two others were injured when a tree, uprooted by strong winds, fell on a passenger vehicle in summer capital Srinagar Thursday, police said.

A poplar tree fell on a Tata Sumo taxi at Badami Bagh cantonment area of the city, four km from city centre Lal Chowk, when it was carrying passengers from Srinagar to south Kashmir’s Bijbehara town, police here said.

The injured were immediately shifted to the hospital and are being treated by doctors there, a police officer told IANS here.

High speed winds lashed the city Thursday evening and the sky was overcast with clouds.
