FAA: Plane with open door crashes at Ohio airport
MIAMISBURG, Ohio — Air safety authorities say a single-engine plane flying with an open door has crashed in Ohio, killing two people.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham (EYE’-shum) Cory says the private plane left Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport on Thursday afternoon and was headed for the DuPage Airport in suburban Chicago when the pilot reported a cargo door was open. She says the plane tried returning to the airport just south of Dayton but crashed in a field near a runway.
The airport is in Miamisburg, part of the Dayton metro area. It primarily serves corporate and personal aircraft.
State Highway Patrol Trooper Brandon Williams says the names of the victims haven’t been confirmed and the Warren County coroner hopes to complete the identification process Friday.
