Small plane crashes on upstate NY road, hurting 2
PALERMO, N.Y. — Police say a small plane has crashed while trying to land on a roadway in upstate New York, seriously injuring two women aboard.
Syracuse Hancock International Airport had received a distress call from the plane shortly before it crashed about 25 miles away.
The crash was reported Sunday afternoon to police in Oswego (ahs-WEE’-goh) County, on the southeastern shore of Lake Ontario.
One of the injured women has been taken by helicopter to a hospital. The other has been taken by ambulance.
The Piper Cherokee plane was attempting to land on County Route 45 in Palermo, a town of about 4,000 residents.
