3 Arizonans, 1 Louisianan killed in Phoenix crash
PHOENIX — A fourth person has died from injuries after a dump truck slammed into a group of motorcycles stopped at a red light in north Phoenix.
Authorities say 47-year-old Dayle Veronica Downs-Totonchi died in a Phoenix hospital Friday. Two other Arizonans and a Louisiana man were killed at the scene of Thursday’s accident that left five others injured.
One person — 52-year-old Phoenix Fire Department Capt. Ernie Lizarraga — remains in critical condition with three others in serious condition. Another man was treated and released.
The two Phoenix-area men killed when the truck hit the eight motorcycles from behind were identified earlier Friday as 67-year-old Clyde R. Nachand and 35-year-old Daniel L. Butler. Phoenix police say the Louisiana resident was 52-year-old Stephen Punch, of Lockport.
Authorities say there was no sign that 46-year-old truck driver Michael Jakscht was impaired, and no charges have been filed.
