Ariz. child drowns in septic tank; dad arrested
YUMA, Ariz. — An Arizona man has been arrested after his 14-month-old son drowned in an open septic tank.
The boy, identified as Aiden Lee Bailey, was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon at a Yuma hospital.
Yuma County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Eben Bratcher told The Associated Press on Thursday the boy’s father, 20-year-old Michael James Wilson, was arrested and booked for hindering prosecution.
The mother boy’s mother, 20-year-old Crystal Bailey, was interviewed. The Sheriff’s Office said it will request the County Attorney review the case for potential charges against her.
Bratcher described the homemade septic system as a 4-foot-deep open pit with a sewage line running directly from the home’s waste plumbing into it.
