Ohio cop tossed by car says he acted on instinct
CLEVELAND — A suburban Cleveland police officer says he was acting on instinct when he pushed a stranded motorist to safety and got flipped over a guardrail by an out-of-control vehicle last month.
Brooklyn Heights Lt. John Lambert said at a hospital news conference Monday that he was just doing his job when he was struck on an icy highway ramp last month. The crash was captured on his patrol car’s dashboard video.
Lambert suffered fractures of the pelvis, tailbone and left eye socket and says it’s a miracle he’s still alive. He could require up to 18 months to recover fully.
The driver whose car hit the officer has been ticketed.
