PANAJI - A 33-year-old Russian woman who was found dead in a hotel room here last week could have died due to excessive consumption of alcohol, police said Monday.

Speaking to reporters, Superintendent of Police Bosco George said the post-mortem examination report had revealed that the deceased, identified as Elena Velich, had a “fatty liver”.

“The report has said that the victim, a tourist, had fatty liver and there were indications that death may be due to alcohol consumption,” George said, adding that the viscera of the deceased had been sent for forensic analysis.

On Wednesday night, Elena’s body was found in a starred-resort in Arpora, 15 km from here.
