NEW DELHI - A man suffered serious injuries after being set on fire while asleep here early Sunday, apparently over a property row, police said. Two of his cousins have been detained as suspects.

The victim, identified only as Amit, was burnt around 2.30 a.m in the hutments in Moti Bagh area and he received over 80 percent burns. A case of attempt to murder has been filed.

An official said someone poured petrol on Amit and set him ablaze. He has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.

Two of Amit’s cousins, who had allegedly threatened him previously, were being questioned for their involvement but their mother insisted they were innocent.
