Fuel leaking, engineer missing in Pa. train crash
BRADDOCK, Pa. — A train engineer is unaccounted for after a train derailment spilled diesel fuel into a creek near a U.S. Steel plant outside Pittsburgh.
Allegheny County 911 dispatchers say a hazardous materials crew is dealing with hundreds of gallons of fuel leaking into Turtle Creek.
A cadaver-sniffing dog is on standby because the engineer cannot immediately be found.
U.S. Steel spokeswoman Erin DiPietro says the train is owned by Union Railroad. That’s part of Transtar, a U.S. Steel subsidiary whose trains serve the company’s plants.
A news video appears to show two trains colliding and some coal cars tipping over. She said she could not immediately comment on the video.
