2 killed on NJ train tracks in separate accidents
TRENTON, N.J. — Two people have been struck and killed by trains in separate accidents in New Jersey.
The first death occurred in Mercer County on Thursday morning when Amtrak’s Keystone 642 train hit a person near the Hamilton Township station. The train had 251 passengers and was headed to New York.
The second accident occurred Thursday evening near the East Orange station. A man was struck by a New Jersey Transit Morris and Essex Line commuter train carrying about 900 passengers.
Both accidents caused travel delays. But no one aboard either train was hurt.
It’s unclear why the two people were on the tracks. Their identities haven’t been released.
