NEW DELHI - A 24-year-old lady was arrested here Tuesday along with her husband for murdering and robbing an elderly woman, police said Tuesday.
Dolly Aggarwal of Rani Bagh was arrested for murdering her neighbour Manjeet Kaur, who ran a marriage bureau, Feb 23.
Police said Dolly and Gopal Aggarwal slit Kaur’s throat and wrist. They then ransacked her house and took away two mobile phones, clothes, cash as well as jewellery items.
Dolly knew the deceased. The couple was under debt. So they decided to steal jewellery and cash. When they overpowered Kaur, she began shouting. The couple then slit her wrist and neck, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest Delhi) N.S. Bundela said.
After reaching home, however, the Aggarwals found that most of the jewellery articles they stole were artificial and threw them away, said the officer. Gopal Aggarwal is on the run.
