NEW DELHI - One person was burnt to death and two others were injured after a fire broke out in a slum here early Sunday, an official said.

The incident took place in the slum cluster behind Ankur apartments in Patparganj at around 2.47 a.m., the fire brigade official said.

Eight fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was doused within an hour.

“One person died and two were seriously injured. They were taken to the nearby Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital. Four huts were gutted. The cause of the fire is yet to be known,” the official said.

In a similar incident a week ago, nearly 100 dwellings were destroyed when a major fire engulfed the Ghazipur slum in east Delhi.
