NEW DELHI - Two Class 12 students have been arrested in the national capital for various cases of chain snatching, police said Monday.

Dipankar Das, 21, and Kapil Chauhan, 19, - both residents of west Delhi - were held from the PVR Priya complex in Vasant Vihar when they were trying to sell of a stolen mobile phone and laptop.

Both Chauhan and Das are appearing for Class 12 examination this year. They confessed that they have many girl friends. To bear heavy expenses and to live a lavish lifestyle, they started committing the crime last year, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) H.G.S. Dhaliwal.

They targeted women walking alone on roadside and snatched their cell phones, gold chains, handbags, laptops and other valuables. In most of these incidents, they used Karizma motorcycle which has a comparatively higher speed than other bikes, he added.

Police said they targeted women in R.K. Puram, Janakpuri, Hari Nagar, Delhi Cantonment and other parts of the city.
