Woman official among two held for accepting bribe

SHIMLA - Two people, including a woman excise taxation officer, were arrested in Himachal Pradesh Saturday while accepting a bribe, police said.
“Excise taxation officer Nirmal Kumari and her assistant Neeraj Kumar were caught red-handed Saturday by the Vigilance Bureau while accepting bribe in their office in Mandi town,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhupinder Singh told reporters.
He said they were arrested on a tip-off from a businessman.
The Vigilance Bureau has registered 271 corruption cases against government officials from January 2008 to Jan 31, 2010.
