NEW DELHI - Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi Saturday demanded action against policeman caught on camera selling Hockey World Cup tickets in the black.
“The incident outside the stadium where the police helped some people to sell tickets in black is regrettable. I have asked police to let us know what action they have taken because this cannot happen during the Commonwealth Games,” Kalmadi told a news channel.
“We have taken this up with them (police),” Kalmadi, who is also the chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, said.
The Network 18 news network Friday claimed security lapse at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, the Hockey World Cup venue in the national capital, and showed visuals of a policeman selling tickets in the black.
According to the channel, Rohtash, a policeman posted outside the stadium was also helping touts and sold Rs.500 tickets for Rs.1,000 and Rs.100 tickets for Rs.500.
“The incident was captured minutes before the scheduled match between India and Spain Thursday. The footage shows the policeman taking people inside the stadium without any checks so that he could sell them the tickets,” the channel said on its website.
