RAIPUR - Four people, including a woman, died in Chhattisgarh Friday after they consumed spurious liquor, an official said.

The incident was reported from a slum in Janjgir-Champa district, some 160 km north of Raipur.

“Four people aged around 30 years, fell unconscious Thursday late night after drinking spurious liquor and were taken to the district government hospital Friday where doctors pronounced them dead,” District Collector B.C. Mishra told IANS by phone. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered, he said.

Mishra said the youth who sold the liquor to the four was also struggling for life at the government hospital as he too consumed the same liquor.
