Orissa school staff held for sexually assaulting girls

BHUBANESWAR - The headmaster, a teacher and a cook of a residential school in Orissa’s Nabrangpur district were arrested Wednesday following allegations that they had sexually assaulted some girl students, police said.
The students of the government-run high school at Badambada village alleged that the teachers had assaulted them sexually number of times in the past with the help of the school cook.
They have also alleged that the teachers were threatening them of dire consequence if the matter is disclosed. The case came to light after the victims narrated the incident to a lady teacher as well as to their family members.
“After prima-facie evidences we have arrested the teachers and the cook,” police officer P.K. Patra told IANS.
“It is a serious matter. No one will be spared if found guilty. We have sought a report from the district administration,” School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena said.
The district headquarter of Nabrangpur is located at the distance of 563 km from here.
