SOLAPUR - A college principal was found dead in a pool of blood in his office early Tuesday in Maharashtra’s Sangola town, police said.
Mahesh V. Bondral, principal of S.J.D. Ed. College in Sangola, was found murdered and his body was lying on the floor of his office in the college, investigating officer N.S. Jagtap said. Sangola is around 70 km from here.
“He had gone to his office late last (Monday) night though it was a holiday on account of Holi. However, he did not return home and this morning, his body was discovered lying in a pool of blood by an office attendant,” Jagtap told IANS.
According to a complaint lodged by the 33-year-old victim’s brother Shankar, Bondral had gone to the college office Monday night for some work relating to his doctoral degree.
The family was under the impression that he would be late so did not disturb him. They learnt of his death Tuesday morning.
The murder is being investigated from various angles, including some possible previous enmity but so far there are no definite leads, Jagtap said.
The college, with nearly 100 students on its rolls, is run by the Vidyamandir Shikshan Sanstha and was shut for the past three days on account of the Holi weekend.
