Brother, sister die in car crash near Conn. home
MILFORD, Conn. — A teenager driving with his younger sister has crashed into a utility pole near their Connecticut home, killing both of them.
Police say the crash happened Sunday afternoon in Milford, a city of about 50,000 residents an hour north of New York City.
They say a preliminary investigation shows 19-year-old Paul Heron was driving toward his home and was about a half-mile away when he crashed. They say he was badly injured and died at the scene, a residential area overlooking the Long Island Sound.
Fifteen-year-old Alexa Heron was a passenger in the car. Police say she was taken to a hospital but died of her injuries.
The local Board of Education planned to offer grief counseling for students and staff at Alexa’s high school Monday.
The cause of the crash hasn’t been determined.
