Three held for molesting teenage girl in moving car

BHOPAL - Three youths were arrested here Thursday for molesting and assaulting a teenage girl in a moving car, police said.

The youths not only molested and assaulted the 17-year-old victim who is a schoolgirl but also forced her to consume liquor, police said.

According to police, the victim had Wednesday gone to her friend’s house who was about to drop her home, when she met three car-borne youths whom she apparently knew and asked them to drop the victim to her place.

Though the victim didn’t know these youths, she sat in their car. The accused initially took her around to various places and when the girl protested, she was molested and assaulted, police added.

The youths who were in an inebriated condition forced her to drink liquor and forcibly kept her inside the car for almost one and a half hours during which they went to various parts of the city in search of an isolated spot, said a police officer adding that the girl, however, managed to open the door of the car and escape.

An autorickshaw driver who saw the girl rushing out of the car and running, reported the matter to police. Later the victim’s family also lodged a complaint with police.

“The three youths - Pradeep, Nikhil and Nanak - have been arrested and booked for abduction and molestation,” said station house officer of Mangalwara police station, Umashankar Tiwari.

The victim’s friend has also been booked though she hasn’t been arrested as yet,” Tiwari said.

The police is investigating the matter.
