Pa. police follow snow prints to make arson arrest
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Police investigating a Pennsylvania mobile home fire say they followed tracks in the snow to a car belonging to an Ohio man who used to live there.
Authorities believe heavy snows kept 33-year-old Robert Lee Armstrong from driving away after setting the fire.
Armstrong, of Warren, Ohio, is charged with arson and burglary in the Feb. 14 fire in North Beaver Township, Pa.
Police say Armstrong was still at the scene when firefighters arrived. North Beaver police say his car was stuck in deep snow and that the only evidence of anyone entering the trailer were footprints leading to Armstrong’s car.
Police say Armstrong had a dispute with his former landlord. They say Armstrong confessed at an Ohio jail where he’s being held in an unrelated case.
