Goa police probing arrested Israeli drug dealer’s firm

PANAJI - Anti-narcotics sleuths in Goa are probing an import-export company run by arrested Israeli drug peddler David Griham (34) alias Dudu that has been trading in chocolates and garments over the last few years.

Speaking to IANS, an official attached to the anti-narcotics cell said that despite being in operation for nearly a decade, Dudu’s company, Dudu Division Import and Export Pvt Ltd, registered a profit of Rs.32,000 only once and that too in 2005.

“There is something odd here. The company was into exporting garments and chocolates. And they registered a profit only once in 2005. We are probing this angle thoroughly,” the official said, adding that Sagar Adelkar, the other director in Dudu’s company had been called for questioning Wednesday.

“We are trying to find out whether the company was a front for exporting drugs out of India,” the official said.

Dudu was arrested Monday for possessing an assortment of drugs worth Rs.3.81 lakh, police said.

Superintendent of Police (Anti-Narcotic Cell) Veenu Bansal said that Dudu was arrested at Anjuna, and 144 ecstasy tablets as well as quantities of heroin, cocaine, liquid LSD and charas were seized from him.

Bansal added that Dudu had been earlier arrested in 2008 by the Mumbai anti-narcotics squad.
