Human error blamed in California light-rail crash
SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco transportation officials say driver error appears to be the cause of a crash involving a light-rail train and a historic streetcar.
Municipal Transportation Agency spokesman Judson True says the Muni Metro train ran into the back of a streetcar around 6:20 a.m. Thursday.
Two passengers on the light-rail train were taken to the hospital. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Two other passengers were treated at the scene.
There were no passengers on the streetcar, but the operator of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries also described as non-life-threatening.
True says Muni officials found no malfunction involving the tracks or equipment, indicating human error was the likely cause of the wreck.
