3 injured when SF light-rail cars collide

SAN FRANCISCO — Authorities say three people were taken to hospitals after two San Francisco light-rail cars collided.

Municipal Transportation Agency spokesman Judson True says a light-rail car on the J-Church line rear-ended a car on the F-Market line around 6:20 a.m. Thursday near the Noe Valley neighborhood. True said both vehicles were heading toward downtown San Francisco, but the car on the F-Market line had stopped at the time of the crash.

True said he did not know how fast the other light-rail car was traveling.

Two female passengers and the driver of one of the cars were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. True says two other passengers were treated at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
