Ghaziabad police arrest extortionist

GHAZIABAD - Police Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly extorting money from businessmen by posing as the nephew of notorious criminal Jatan Sirohi.

Senior Superintendent of Police Raghuvir Lal told a press conference that Anwar, a resident of Morta area here, was a quack who terrorised businessmen and extorted money from them.

Anwar was nabbed when he tried to extort Rs.20 lakh from a share broker, Sarvesh Kansal, who informed the police about the threat call.

The police put his mobile phone under surveillance and found that he operated under the name Billa.

During interrogation, Anwar revealed that Billa is the nephew of Sirohi, who was killed in a police encounter.
