SHIMLA - Ten people, including a child, were killed and four others critically injured in a road accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla district Thursday, police said.

The accident occurred when a Trax, a utility vehicle, with 14 people on board skidded into a gorge near Jagothi stream, about 140 km from here, around 4.30 p.m. Thursday, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shiv Chaudhary told IANS by phone.

He said 10 people died on the spot and the other four were critically injured. They have been admitted to the civil hospital in Rohru.

“The victims are yet to be identified. They seemed to belong to local villages,” a police official said.

“Prima facie, it seems to be a case of rash and negligent driving,” he added.
