City vehicles strike 2 in San Francisco accidents
SAN FRANCISCO — One pedestrian is dead and another seriously injured following separate accidents in San Francisco involving city-owned vehicles.
Witnesses said a slow-moving water department truck in the city’s Westwood Park neighborhood rolled over a woman, crushing and dragging her before coming to a stop. She died at the scene Tuesday afternoon.
Tyrone Jue, a spokesman for the city’s Public Utilities Commission, says the driver has worked for the city for 23 years. Neither the driver nor the victim’s name were released. Police say no arrests have been made.
In the other accident around the same time, authorities say a city bus struck a woman in the street, flipping her into the air.
Municipal Transportation Agency officials said her injuries were life-threatening.
