BHOPAL - A woman who allegedly got her abusive husband killed with the help of hired criminals in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district has been arrested, police said Monday.
According to police, Mamta Jogi, 30, of Narwar town in the district, 311 km from Bhopal, was often beaten up by her husband Kishanlal. The husband, who was unemployed, also used to take all the money she earned as a maid.
Mamta allegedly hired a man called Udaibhan to get her husband killed. He, in turn, contacted Badan Pundit of Jhansi town in Uttar Pradesh, who with the help of his two accomplices, killed Kishanlal and dumped his body near his house.
Mamta later lodged a complaint with the police that her husband was missing. But when Kishanlal’s body was recovered at some distance from his house, police suspected foul play. She was questioned and confessed her crime, telling the police that she gave Rs.19,000 to Udaibhan for killing her husband.
Mamta and Udaibhan have been arrested and a search was on for Pundit and his two accomplices, police said.
